What does it mean to fail? What's breaking through?
Gate - emitter, collector - emitter? What exactly?
If the gate breaks, then most likely this is a malfunction of the pulse limiting circuits on the gate. If the collector - emitter breaks through, then this is either an overload in the load, or a driver malfunction - this is when the driver produces a curved (flat) front to the gate.
And the answer is, can the module fail due to the driver? Certainly!
I’m not an expert on stations, but our station technicians in such cases change drivers without hesitation. They use them in packs.
Moreover, the removed drivers are immediately thrown into the trash, never to be seen again. And this does not mean that the cause of the malfunction can only be in the drivers...

Что значит выходит из строя? Что пробивается?
Затвор - эмитттер, коллектор - эмиттер? Что именно?
Если пробивается затвор, то скорее всего это неисправность цепей ограничения импульса на затворе. Если пробивается коллектор - эмиттер, то это либо перегруз в нагрузке, либо неисправность драйвера — это когда драйвер выдаёт кривой(пологий) фронт на затвор.
И ответ, может ли выйти из строя модуль из-за драйвера? Конечно!
Я не спец по станциям, но у нас станционщики в подобных случаях меняют драйвера не задумываясь. Они у них расходуются упаковками.
При чём снятые драйвера выкидывают на помойку сразу, чтобы больше никогда их не увидеть. И это не значит что причина неисправности может быть только в драйверах...
